Multi-carrier smart meter

The client wanted to set its smart meter offering apart from what was already on the market. The new device had to be able to communicate over multiple transmission carriers: NB-IoT, LoRa, NFC and wM-Bus.

The product is built from STMicroelectronics components, and in particular the new ST87M module. Water flow is measured statically, using ultrasonic sensors.

Beyond the multiple communication channels, additional features include intelligent management of the valve closing system and the option of fitting the device with pressure sensors.

Careful energy management, together with the standby modes offered by the internal microcontroller from STM's U3 family, allows the primary battery to deliver the working life required by major national and international tenders.
