The client's product allows electronic mechanisms and automated systems to be operated remotely, over a range of communication channels: a simple voice call, an SMS, a data connection or a BLE connection.

The product is an IoT device built around an LTE Cat 1 bis modem and a dedicated SIM on chip. As well as driving the modem, the microcontroller provides a BLE connection to the device, both for issuing commands and for configuration and downloading log data.

Originally designed for automatic gate control, it now finds a place in many other settings. It is a perfect example of how complex computing technologies and a range of protocols and radio systems can be condensed into a simple device, at a cost precisely in line with the client's target.
