Client briefing
The client, a leading company in the tourist audio guide sector, has developed an artificial intelligence application that translates the tour guide's voice in real time and broadcasts it over several DECT channels, so that each visitor on the tour can choose the language they prefer.
The application runs on a smartphone together with a proprietary cloud service. We were asked to build a device able to achieve the same result without the smartphone.
The solution
The device was designed around a CPU and a supervising MCU. Communication is handled by a CAT4 module, to guarantee the bandwidth needed to transfer information and to receive the various translated audio streams from the cloud.
Where there is no LTE coverage, the device uses a transceiver to manage the 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi interfaces. All the ancillary circuits normally found in high-end devices are present as well: the BLE interface, the fast charging system, battery gauge management, and of course DECT transmission of the audio streams.
